If you are a Millenial you surely have tried or at least know about the wave of meal box services that have taken over most podcast and Facebook advertising spots in recent years. Have you tried one? They can be great especially for weeknights when you get home late from work or a recital and you don’t want to think about cooking from scratch. But the big problem is there is no way that your three-year-old is going to eat Spicy Polano & Enoki Mushroom Tortas. You know what they might eat though? How about Orange Chicken with Fried Rice or Peas & Cheese Tortellini! Simply put, kid food jazzed up a bit.
Nurture Life is a meal box service that is for your kids and your busy life. You simply enter your child’s age and their dietary restrictions and their team will curate a weekly menu plan for you. Then every week it shows up on your doorstep like some magical food fairy has blessed your house and cured your picky eaters once and for all.
The meals come cold ready to re-heat and in perfect healthy sized portions for your growing kids. You don’t have to worry about reading the sides of mac and cheese boxes to see if there is anything icky inside anymore. The Nurture Life “team of chefs and pediatric dietitian create meals that are designed and portioned to meet each child’s nutritional requirements. We prepare, cook and package all of our meals in our state-of-the-art kitchen, eliminating cross-contamination with the most common allergens.”
What we love the most about Nurture Life’s meals for our toddlers is that we don’t have to worry about them getting all of the nutrients from their meals what we pretend to give them normally. Yeah, you don’t have to pretend that those french fries you threw in the microwave are a suitable veggie. These meals are simply perfect for any family.
The fine folks over at Sweet Valley Organics sent us some of their amazing Organic Dark Chocolate Snack Bites and we can’t put them down. It’s a problem. They are so good guys. We often are looking for a sweet snack after dinner, sure some might call it desert but that word screams ice cream or brownies and those words scream another 45 on the elliptical and who wants that right? That is where these snack bites come in handy. We have been satisfying our dessert craving with these nuts & fruits that are USDA organic, fair trade certified, non-GMO and made with no preservatives. Oh, did we mention that they are all covered in dark chocolate? “Chocolate, it doesn’t just make things tastier, it makes things better-er.” What makes these snacks amazing is that everyone in the family has been enjoying them. Check out the 3yo taste testing the varieties with me.
Wouldn’t it be nice if the moms in your life said something like that about the thoughtful gifts that you give them year after year? There is an art to giving the right gift, at the right time, to the right person. You have to listen and observe and most of all know what products are out there to be gifted. The folks over at Knack have quickly mastered the art of curating a set of items that will delight the mom you give it to. So, if you want to hear her say “Oh my gooooood, I loooooove this” then take the accumulated knowledge you have learned about your mommas and pair it with the ease of creating a fully customizable set from Knack and have an amazing Mother’s Day. It really should not be this simple to nail gift giving.
The Perfect Coffee Break ($48.00)

Better Than Therapy ($110.50):
Rough day? Better talk to some wine about it. This is the gift set you turn to when you (or a girlfriend) have had “one of those weeks”–the kind that calls for dimming the lights, turning the tap to HOT, lighting a candle, and dipping into your stash of Chardonnay In A Can to enjoy in the bathtub. Yes, you read that correctly. You see, unlike bathtub gin, bathtub wine is really quite delicious and not at all scandalous (well, not very). Plus, it’s quite an intelligent choice when you consider how much safer you’ll feel without the risk of a slippery wineglass, right? Follow it up with a no-stress coloring session paired with an assortment of eight culinary inspired chocolates.
When you are talking about the multifunctional Impact made by Draggin Bags we certainly think so. This fully funded Kickstarter backed bag is just about the most impressive and durable bag we have ever seen. Made from 500d Cordura (that is some strong stuff) and crafted to be nearly indestructible you can rest assured that this bag will be with you for a lifetime. The surface is coated with a water and dirt repellent coating which will leave your bad looking stylish long after the “unboxing” when you receive it. We can’t help but want 20 of these for everything from our tools, our fishing tackle to our toy cars and Lego accessories. You never know when these bags might come in handy. Fill one with the essentials and get out the door dad.

Vintage Pajama Set ($95) Relevant Mom swears by these J-Crew pajamas, ultimate style and comfort.
It is not a cliche to say that one’s coffee consumption skyrockets upon the arrival of a new baby and never really plateaus until they leave for college. Okay, maybe not college maybe just sleeping through the night but both milestones will seem eons away in those first months of parenthood. You know, come to think about it ones coffee consumptions really just increase with the child’s age, speaking as a father of a 3 year old and a 9 month old coffee may be the most important thing in my life. So, why not consume it in style? What’s that told adage? Work smarter not harder? Well, I say drink smarter not harder. No, that makes no sense. Drink smarter not hotte…nevermind I need a coffee to figure this tagline out. In the meantime check out our list of coffee items we are enjoying here at Relevant Dad.
Ember Ceramic Mug – $80 The number of times you will find a cold cup of coffee forgotten in the microwave will go from 5,000 to 0 with this mug that keeps your coffee at the exact temperature you want it from “this first sip to the last drop.”
La Colombe Coffee Flask – $30 Because give me one good reason not to have a coffee flask? Exactly.
Ten Cup Chemex – $48 With pour over coffee in vogue and quite frankly a better cup this Chemex is the way to go when you have the time. It’s way prettier than a Keurig and your taste buds will thank you.
Cafflano Portable Pourover Kit – $110 Speaking of pour over superiority this portable kit from Cafflano is just amazing. Impress your significant other on the picnic or family hike or just enjoy while watching soccer practice from the sidelines.
Trees Knees Coffee Maple – $14 Okay, so this one is a cheat but dammit it’s sooooo good. Drizzle on ice cream or pancakes just about anything that brings you comfort can take a dollop of this gem.
Listen, we know that in a moment of weakness you thought it would be effective to smash up your coffee maker because your old buddy Seany might retweet your vertical video. Look, man, how about you take a step back and think about why Keurig pulled their advertising. If you are all about family like we are here at Relevant Dad, then pay your penance and then buy a new Keurig so that you don’t look like a complete fool at best or at worst a supporter of a horrible man who did horrible things to kids. We suggest the K575, it’s what we brew with here in the office and it will fit into that empty spot on your counter perfectly. It also makes a great gift so why don’t you buy one for your neighbor whose old Keurig is in the trash bin holding down their Ed Gillespie lawn sign.
Google has just released a new smart camera that you can set up in your home to capture those oft-forgotten or missed candid moments. “Google Clips is smart enough to recognize great expressions, lighting and framing. So the camera captures beautiful, spontaneous images. And it gets smarter over time.” The AI tech on this camera seems pretty fun. The more it recognizes a face or your pets the more it will take clips of that subject which means the quality of clips that you save will improve over time. The shots will save to your phone’s Clips app and you can edit them into moments using the amazing Google Photo’s app. This is just the perfect app for families who want to spend time IN the moment and not sit behind the screen snapping photos. Now you can laugh with your partner and capture the moment remotely as your toddler puts their legs over their head and mimicks farting while yelling “toot, toot, toot from the butt, butt, butt!” Wait…is that just in our house?
Hey, fam. (waving hand emoji) Good morning, look outside. Ah yes, the dew is slowly drying in the grass as the sun peeks through the trees in the backyard. Coffee drips and children stir. It’s Saturday morning and today is going to be hot, you can feel it already. That blanket of humidity that turns to sweat on your forehead as soon as you step onto the porch is lurking. So, drink that coffee and fill up that pool you bought on Prime Day. Oh, you already have a pool? Look – at – you fancy man! Congrats on that I guess.
Now, step your pool game up a notch with Hydro Spring Hoops and make your pool a basketball court. This pool hoop is easy to set up and twist and fold down for storage and quick play. This is a great product, the base is heavy meaning it won’t tip over in the pool when the pace of play gets heated! The included ball is easy to grip and rip when pool time turns into NBA Jam 2k17. Have fun dunking on your kids and wife dad, this hoop is really really, fun.
If you follow us you know how much we love the eero home wifi system so we are super stoked that it is about to get even better. The fine folks at eero have just launched the eero Beacon a simple plug and go wifi extender that meshes into your existing eero wifi system seamlessly. What the eero Beacon means it that your system can cover even more hard to reach range inside and outside of your home. Take your family movie night outside without fear of buffering or signal loss. Better yet, Netflix and chill* on that patio set you paid for but never use. “No more dead spots, slow spots, drop-offs, or buffering — right out of the box.” Also, and the Beacon had a downward facing night light, did a parent invent this or what?
“…a projector isn’t a need; it’s a want. If you’re like me, and you had childhood fantasies of turning the garage door into a screen for Mario Kart and Monday Night Football, a projector might be for you — no mansion or screening room required.” The Verge
Look, we’ve already got everything we need. And if you’ve got a healthy family you do, too. But there’s still stuff that we wouldn’t mind being gifted with this Father’s Day so we rounded up 50 items and put together this handy gift guide for all the people who say we’re too hard to buy for. Check it out.
Summer is here and as we all climb out of our winter cocoon and shake off the Netflix binging to explore the warm weather some additional tools are needed. On a recent road trip that included an overnight at a hotel with the whole family we had the need to wash and dry some bottles for both baby and big sister. Ultimately we had to lay them out on a couple of those standard scratchy white hotel towels but who really knows how sanitary that was. That night I found the perfect solution to our on the go bottle drying woes, the b.box baby travel drying rack. Ingenious right? This 6 bottle rack folds almost flat so no need for extra space in the trunk. It is so portable that you can bring it along to the inlaws for the weekend, or for a long afternoon at the buddies house and have a safe place to store your drying bottles until your little one needs them again.

There is something magical about Sunday mornings right? Maybe you wake up a little bit tired from the long day before, breakfast is cooking on the stove top, your kids are playing and the sun is casting shadows across your living room. Bob Dylan’s new album Triplicate is the perfect Sunday morning soundtrack. This is Dylan’s third album of cuts from the great American songbook. So, these are the songs that your grandparents dances to in the moonlight, or maybe just maybe played on their radios for your parents when they were little. Introduce your kids to Dylan and this special take on Americana. NPR has a first listen here.
